Ellen David Friedman papers, 1980-1990.

This collection consists of the papers of Vermont political activist, Ellen David Friedman. Materials relating to liberal causes during the 1980s, including solidarity with Central America, nuclear disarmament, opposition to the military draft, electoral politics, and Vermont labor union issues, make up the bulk of the collection. Materials in the collection include newspaper articles, correspondence between members of various political and social action groups, flyers, financial data, mailing lists of organizations, and steering committee notes. A large amount of material relating to the Vermont Rainbow Coalition, the National Rainbow Coalition and Jesse Jackson's campaign for President in 1988 is also included. Other issues represented include the Vermont Coalition for Peace and Justice, the Vermont Solidarity Conference, fighting U.S. involvement in Central America, children's rights, protests against the Reagan administration, and opposition to the war in Grenada. Ms. David Friedman was active in defense of workers' rights and in supporting striking Vermont workers and several specific strikes are represented in the collection.
